Amber Music

Amber Music is one of the preeminent music production companies in the world, with offices in New York and Los Angeles.
Founded in 1993 by Michelle Curran, Amber’s composers and sound designers have consistently produced award wining work for a range of global clients, most recently receiving a Gold Lion at Cannes for Best Use of Music in 2008, and the only Gold Clio that was awarded in the Music category in 2009.
Last year I was asked to rebrand Amber Music’s whole identity. From business cards to websites everything was redone. From the start it was a little intimidating since I was dealing with a brand that has been doing commercials for Absolute Vodka, BMW, Taco Bell, ect. In the end I had to just suck it up and just be confident.
The final logo was based on how music is interpreted through a sound recorder. One continuos line from the begining to the end. The logo was hand rendered with my own handwriting and I must say was a challenge itself. Refining the logos shapes and curves took me hours. Making sure the lines flow from one end to another while maintaing it’s balance. The red sun icon derives from their old logo to make direct ties with the old to the new.More after the jump
.
Overall, the logo worked well in different platforms from interactive to print. I designed the logo to stand strong by itself as well as give way when more important information is being displayed. The curves of the logo has a sense of elegance as it also displays a hint of fun. It was a great project and overall happy with the output and I hope Amber Music loves it as well.
